Mid January 2008, Fast Forward Freight arranged transport of three Boeing 777 trust reversers from Amsterdam to Rome Italy.
Fast Forward Special Projects office was tasked by an OEM to move Boeing 777 Thrust Reversers via airfreight within the EU. The Thrust Reversers were oversize and unable to be moved via road from The Netherlands to Italy as the tunnels in route were to narrow.
In order to provide our customer with the safest and fastest solution, an Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VD was chartered to perform the trip from Amsterdam to FCA Rome. Before the Ilyushine was ready for loading the cargo the Military Police at Schiphol first approved and then escorted the Fast Forward Freight truck to the aircraft. After transport via road from Fast Forward Freight’s main warehouse to ramp side the 3 Thrust Reversers were offloaded ramp side. The loading crew took extra care as the Thrust Reversers just fit into the aircraft as the space into the cargo section was very tight leaving 10 cm clearance on both sides from the structure of the aircraft. In order to make sure the loading went smoothly, a member of the FFF Amsterdam project department supervised the loading & inspection thereafter. After successfully securing the cargo, the Ilyushine 76 departed AMS and landed safely at FCA where the client received the freight in perfect condition.
For this project Fast Forward Freight arranged:
- Charter the Ilyushin IL-76TD-90VD
- Road transport from Schiphol Tech Area to “The Ramp”
- Customs documentation
- Permission for unloading the cargo on ramp side
- Lashing & securing of the cargo
- Transport support by the Military Police at Schiphol
- Ramp area for the special aircraft
