Palletforce Unveils Focus On Service As Members Raise £16k For Charity

Palletforce’s annual Members General Meeting attracted a record attendance as the leading express freight distribution network revealed its strategy for 2022, with members helping raise £16,000 for local charities on the night.

Palletforce, which has more than 100 member transport companies in its network, showcased presentations from all of its directors at the event, the first held since before the pandemic in January 2020.

Directors laid out plans for a renewed focus on service quality, new member growth and innovative technology and IT advances, as Palletforce reinforced its position as a member-centric network.

And, at a charity auction during the MGM, members raised £16,000 for the Midlands Air Ambulance and the When You Wish Upon A Star charities. Items including sports memorabilia were auctioned off as Palletforce continued its significant commitment to charity and community initiatives as part of its wider sustainability strategy.

Mark Tapper, Palletforce’s chief operating officer, was delighted to see the meeting return to the company’s schedule with a record member attendance.

“The combined expertise, resilience and operational acumen of our member companies is the bedrock on which Palletforce has been built and it’s what underpinned our agility and carried us through the challenges of the pandemic.

“However, as focus on the future, we were pleased to outline our plans to further strengthen Palletforce’s position as the leading freight distribution network. That included our focus on delivering unrivalled service quality, recruiting and strengthening our membership and leveraging the innovative technological advances our IT team has been making. Our overriding focus is on customer service levels and it was great to have a full commitment from our members.

“Getting to talk to members and working together towards a shared success is invaluable. To see how generous everyone was in the charity auction was a source of great pride too ¬– Palletforce and our members take our community responsibilities very seriously and everyone put a lot of effort into helping two very worthy causes,” he said.

A Virtually Perfect Night For Palletforce Gala Award Winners

EV Cargo’s Palletforce had a virtually perfect evening at its annual Gala Awards ceremony as the network celebrated the fantastic achievements of it member companies during 2021.

The event – the jewel in the crown of the Palletforce calendar – recognises members who have delivered excellence in service and performance over the last 12 months.

Normally taking place with a glitzy celebration of more than 450 members and guests in London, for the second year running the event was held virtually, with members tuning in online to find out if they were among the winners.

The highest accolade of the evening, the Chairman’s Award 100% Club, was won by eight different members, each having delivered unrivalled service excellence and a 100% delivery performance record. Inducted into the club were Delamode Nidd Transport, MLH Transport, Evans Transport, Mitchell Storage & Distribution, Baynes & Son Haulage, Knowles Transport, Campeys of Selby, Q Delivery Services and Premier Logistics.

It was also a special night for Yorkshire’s HB Holt & Sons, which was voted Depot of the Year, picking up the prestigious Alan O’Leary Award. Evans Transport collected the Health & Safety in Operations Award, due to the exceptional performance of its drivers, while Star Transport from Thetford won the Member Services Committee Award for the second year running.

Q Delivery Services was also presented with the Sales and Marketing Award, and was included among this year’s 16 Networkers and Brand Ambassadors of the Year.

The brand ambassadors awards recognised members who had gone the extra mile to support the Palletforce SuperHub and the network.

It proved to be a great night for Ziegler (UK), which was named New Member of the Year from a nine-strong shortlist. The Essex firm, which joined Palletforce last year, has brought more than 100 years of experience to the network and was judged to have embraced the ethos of quality and customer service from the outset.

Telford’s WJ Capper picked up the European Export Sales Award.

EV Cargo Drives Growth And Integration With Senior Management Conference

Over 130 delegates attended the inaugural senior management conference held by EV Cargo, the UK’s largest privately-owned logistics network. The People 365 event was the first since the network launched last year and focused on updating management with the group’s vision and strategy for the future.

Delegates included executives from EV Cargo’s individual operating companies –, Adjuno, Allport Cargo Services, CM Downton, Jigsaw, NFT and Palletforce – along with the full EV Cargo executive board.

EV Cargo has made considerable progress since its formation less than 12 months ago, when it was created with the aim of revolutionising supply chain management under a single consolidated brand.

During that period, executives have been appointed to the EV Cargo board and across the individual operating companies. In addition, group functions have been established, including property, marketing, finance, fleet, procurement, technology, key accounts, legal and treasury.

There has been major investment in new technology, in new people to fill vital roles and operating systems have been put in place to ensure the seamless running of the network. Vehicle liveries incorporating EV Cargo branding have also been rolled out.

EV Cargo chief executive Heath Zarin and chief strategy officer Simon Pearson used the opportunity to reinforce the shared goals and values and explained to managers how they have an essential role to play in driving the business forward as a market leader in the sector.

People 365 will become a key event in the calendar to help management engage with and understand the company’s strategy for growth and adding value.
