As part of the transaction, EV Cargo has become the sole shareholder of Fast Forward Freight (and its trading subsidiaries), with the current owners of Fast Forward Freight becoming shareholders of EV Cargo. Fast Forward Freight will be rebranded as EV Cargo and operations will merge to create new and greater opportunities for the combined workforce and solutions for customers.

Technology-enabled logistics provider EV Cargo has launched an expansion of its Eco-Air freight service to combat global supply chain disruption and transport stock quickly and efficiently.
EV Cargo’s innovative solution is designed to ease customers’ concerns over stock availability levels and get around the huge pent-up demand for ocean freight exports from China in the wake of recent Covid lockdowns.
Eco-Air combines a short ocean freight leg to one of EV Cargo’s global hubs with a ‘block space backed’ inbound air leg. This unique combination means the goods avoid congested destination ocean freight container ports completely and provides customers with a trusted alternative option to build their stock.

EV Cargo Founder, Chair and CEO Heath Zarin represented the international logistics industry when he discussed the challenges facing global supply chains during an appearance on international business channel Bloomberg.
Speaking to David Ingles and Yvonne Man on Bloomberg Markets: Asia, Heath said the impact of lockdowns in China had exacerbated existing supply chain constraints on a global basis, but the fact the country was gradually reopening was good news for the sector.
However, he also pointed out that while more ocean freight volume had actually left China this year than in the previous 12 months, as many as 300,000 container units had still to leave the country.
“That is something that needs to be worked through, and so the likelihood is that disruption to ocean freight this summer will be similar to what we saw last year,” he said.
“The world needs to be prepared for more volatile and expensive global supply chains, and there is a need to have other markets to source from in addition to China. While China will always continue to play an indispensable role in global manufacturing, we are seeing increasing ‘dual-sourcing’ from other parts of South-East Asia – and a shift from ‘just-in-time’ to ‘just-in-case’.”
Heath also updated on EV Cargo’s business growth strategy to surpass $3 billion of revenue through a combination of organic expansion, mergers and acquisitions.
“We are planning for US entry for EV Cargo in the next 12 months and reviewing a pipeline of more than 10 acquisition opportunities,” he added.

As it continues to promote career opportunities across the international logistics sector, global logistics provider EV Cargo has announced that its UK south west general manager Rebecca Hicks has been chosen as the chair of a prestigious new conference.
Rebecca was selected after an extensive search by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport [CILT(UK)] for candidates and she takes up the post of inaugural Next Generation conference chair.
CILT(UK) said the selection process was designed to highlight emerging talent in the logistics and transport sector and empower and inspire people to bring in new ideas and innovations to its annual conference.
Rebecca impressed the panel of judges with her enthusiasm for logistics and transport and her understanding of the critical role of conference chair in being a role model for those that might follow in her footsteps. Judges included Bethany Windsor CMILT, CILT(UK)’s programme manager, and Helen Gallimore FCILT, associate lecturer at University of Derby and previous conference workstream host.
Bethany said: “Rebecca’s passion for transport, her engagement with CILT(UK) and her desire to give back to the profession made her a stand-out ambassador for both logistics and for CILT(UK) itself. We are delighted to have her on board.”
Rebecca added: “It’s a real honour to have been chosen as CILT’s first Next Generation chair. It will be a great opportunity, and I am excited to put my own stamp on the role. I am thrilled to be a big part of a the CILT conference, especially during a pivotal time in the logistics and transport sector. I’m really excited for the conference, and I am looking forward to meeting more members of the CILT community.”
Rebecca started her career in 2010 through a logistics graduate scheme and has been EV Cargo’s south west general manager for two years.

EV Cargo’s global brand ambassador Elfyn Evans got his FIA World Rally Championship challenge back on track, scoring his first podium of the season by racing his hybrid-powered Toyota GR Yaris rally car to second place on Rally Portugal.
In this new season where sustainable technology has been incorporated into the rally cars, he got his challenge off to a perfect start by going quickest through the first main stage on Friday morning to storm into the lead. His rally car, which is powered by 100% sustainable fuel and runs in full electric mode on some of the non-competitive sections, was a match for the tough conditions on Friday and Elfyn continued to set a string of leading times to hold a 13.6 second overnight advantage.
Driving for the official Toyota Gazoo Racing World Rally Team, Elfyn extended his lead with another fastest time on Saturday morning.
Locked in a battle with championship leader Kalle Rovanperra all weekend, he was a little too cautious during Saturday’s afternoon stages when rain made conditions extremely slippery and lost time, rounding the day off in second place, just 5.7 second adrift.
Despite a hard charge on the final day, Elfyn couldn’t overhaul Rovanperra and finished second to secure his best result of the season and move up to fifth place in the championship standings. The result also saw another fantastic 1-2 finish for the Toyota Gazoo Racing team, storming clear in the manufacturer title race.
Elfyn Evans said: “We did come here with the plan to fight for victory and, while it’s disappointing to have just missed out, second place is a strong result and helps get our season back on track after a slow start.
“It was a tough event and we were fortunate to have steered clear of any major problems. However, there are some areas we can focus on improving for the next event.
Akio Toyoda, Team Founder and President of Toyota Motor Corporation, said: “As we are competing with a new car from this season, Portugal was the first gravel event for the GR YARIS Rally1, and the team was not sure how well the new car would be able to perform on this surface.
“It was Elfyn who set the top time on the first gravel stage. His great run made us all relieved. He may be frustrated to miss the victory this time, but this great result for TGR was led by Elfyn and Scott. I really thank them.”
